The Plough Inn, a country pub near Cambridge & Newmarket, renowned for food, B & B and real ales
welcome heading
The Plough is an independent country pub where food, wine and real ales are our passion. We refurbished our accommodation in 2007 to create 8 en suite bedrooms – B&B with style! We are close to Cambridge, Newmarket and Clare - ideal for a relaxing break.

Our Chefs are passionate about food and are renowned for producing a mouth-watering selection of daily special dishes. We always aim to make the most of the very best local produce, using local butchers and grocers amongst our suppliers.

In the bar, we serve local real ale. The area produces some of the very best real ales in the country and we are proud to serve these including Woodfordes WBB. Our wine list features the best of the New World, plus some European classics.

When it comes to food, our chefs work hard to provide fresh, imaginative dishes, and are always happy to cater for any special dietary requirements. The menu is quintessentially British, with lighter dishes available, as well as hearty country fare.

Friday nights are Seafood Nights here at the Plough, with our amazing Seafood Platter for two to share always available, plus a tempting selection of fish on the specials boards. Tuesday nights prove extremely popular, with our Steak Tuesday nights offering two local steaks, plus a bottle of red or white wine for only £25. We also offer a selection of local game in season.

On the first floor, the en suite bedrooms, have flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and most overlook the superb Suffolk countryside.

We have an exquisite garden at the Plough, overlooking the rolling valleys of Suffolk- the perfect escape in summer months for dining or a long, cool drink.

We are happy to offer meals in the garden and we have ample parking.

The Plough Inn is conveniently located for Haverhill, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Cambridge. Besides the beauty of the Suffolk countryside other attractions include Bury St Edmunds cathedral, Brewery visitor centre, Newmarket racecourse and the National Museum of Horseracing and the beauty of Cambridge.

Kevin and Kate Wood, resident proprietors of the Plough, look forward to welcoming you, and are always delighted to discuss any special requirements, party bookings or special events that you may be planning.
