The Plough Inn, a country pub near Cambridge & Newmarket, renowned for food, B & B and real ales
welcome heading
The Plough is an independent country pub where food, wine and real ales are our passion. We refurbished our accommodation in 2007 to create 8 en suite bedrooms – B&B with style! We are close to Cambridge, Newmarket and Clare - ideal for a relaxing break.

Our chefs are renowned for their daily specials and homemade pies. We use local steaks and game with fish from Lowestoft. We serve local real ales.

When it comes to food our chefs work hard to provide imaginative dishes (specials board) and fresh fish from Lowestoft, (particularly on Fridays) and local game in season. Besides hearty country fare a range of lighter dishes is available.

On the first floor, the en suite bedrooms, have flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and most over look the superb Suffolk countryside.

We are happy to offer meals in the garden and we have ample parking.

Our beers include a local IPA, Woodfordes Wherry Best Bitter brewed in Norfolk and other award winning real ales when available. Please have a look at our wine list – we think we have chosen an interesting range to satisfy most palates.(link drinks/wine list).

The Plough Inn is conveniently located for Haverhill, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Cambridge.

Resident Australian proprietors, Paul and Kathy Garnett have transformed the Plough since arriving in the autumn and will happily discuss any special arrangements or party bookings you wish to consider.

Besides the beauty of the Suffolk countryside other attractions include Bury St Edmunds cathedral, Brewery visitor centre, Newmarket racecourse and the National Museum of Horseracing and the beauty of Cambridge
